Cake Serving Guide

There are so many ways to cut up your cake. This is a guide for slicing your cakes.

8 Inch (20 cm) Cake

Can be cut around a point to generously serve 8 people, cutting each slice approximately 7.5 cm. A sensible size serve can serve 14 people cutting each slice at 5.5 cm across the back. Event style serves are smaller and can serve up to 24 people.8 inch cake can also be cut across the cake to serve party size 14 serves (5 cm x 5 cm) or event style 28 people (2.5 cm x 5 cm).

10 inch (25 cm) Cake

Can be cut around a point to generously serve 12 people, cutting each slice approximately 5.5 cm. A sensible size serve can serve 25 people cutting each slice at 3 cm across the back. Event style serves are smaller and can serve up to 39 people. 10 inch cake can also be cut across the cake to serve party size 21 serves (5 cm x 5 cm), and event style 42 people (2.5 cm x 5 cm)

12 inch (30 cm) Cake

Can be cut around a point to generously serve 26 people, cutting each slice approximately 3.5 cm. A sensible size serve can serve 40 people cutting each slice at 2.5 cm across the back. However cutting thin slices of 12 inch cake can be unweildly, so the best option is to cut the cake event style.  Large Event style serves can serve 30 people, whilst smaller serves can serve up to 56 portions. 12 inch cake can also be cut across the cake to serve party size 28 portions (5 cm x 5 cm), and event style 56 people (2.5 cm x 5 cm).
